Best of the Class - Elena Hilsabeck

As the Sycamore High School Class of 2021 graduates today, we want to recognize one of our outstanding students who graduates today – Elena Hilsabeck.

Elena has worked in the Aves Hangar for three years, serving customers, monitoring and stocking inventory, and filling and sorting online orders. Elena led efforts on Fridays this year filling and sorting online orders for our Friday delivery schedule.

Elena is a well-rounded, active student who enjoys being involved and always has a positive attitude and brightening spirit. She loves animals and has a dog named Ty and a cat named Kit. She’s always ready and willing to lend a hand, and goes above and beyond to get the job done, not only at the Aves Hangar, but also at Kroger, where she has been recognized as a top employee. Nothing slows her down...not even a knee injury this year!

In April, Elena was one of a few Cincinnati students awarded The Lovis Foundation Hero Award, which recognizes Cincinnati students who have overcome obstacles to make a difference in their community.

The Lovis Foundation honors the life of a charismatic, “uniter” of hearts named Logan Brinson. Logan had significant medical challenges resulting from an undiagnosed genetic disorder. Despite his struggles, Logan’s joyous spirit had a positive impact on everyone he met. He used his love of Elvis to raise monies for local non-profits. He was interested in politics and increasing awareness for people with disabilities.

As Elena graduates today, we know the sky's the limit for her. She has already secured a second job working at Slatt’s in Blue Ash. Her Sycamore job coach Emily Molina says Elena is a “working machine.” Her dream job is working for a local vet, comforting the animals before and after surgery. Elena lives by her mantra, “Don’t waste your life away. Live life to the fullest and always try your best.”

Congratulations to Elena and all the Sycamore students who graduate today. “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
